These are new paintings (2008) that return to themes I have previously explored with digital prints. (To see these previous prints, please contact me via the 'contact page.') They explore daydreams and storytelling. They are whimsical journeys, inspired by Boy's Own adventures and Victorian explorers, and combine interiors with landscapes, scenes of domesticity with old-fashioned danger. Just as the prints featured drawings that were scanned, and scans that were drawn over, so these paintings combine different styles to indicate the different worlds; tonal interiors mix with simplified landscapes, and text (acting as a frame) links the two.
